Pam Havice, Ph.D., retired from Clemson University in 2019 as a full professor of Educational and Organizational Leadership. In her 38 years in higher education, Pam held numerous positions, including serving as the coordinator of the Student Affairs Master’s and the Educational Leadership Higher Education PhD programs at Clemson University.
Dr. Havice was highly committed to student-centered learning. Thus, a large part of her research agenda was creating and evaluating both traditional and alternative learning environments that encompass the learning needs of today’s students. Through her research, she co-developed a Distributed Learning Model that has been shared and published in multiple scholarly venues. Her work has been presented at over 200 international/national/regional and state conferences as well as published in over 100 journals/books/papers/websites. She has also served as a consultant on distance and distributed learning issues at both an international and national level. In collaboration with colleagues, Havice was awarded over one million dollars of external and internal grants to support her research.
Pam was highly involved in professional organizations and committed to introducing graduate students to those professional organizations, i.e. NASPA, ACPA, SACSA, SCCPA. She considered SACSA her professional development “home” where she served on the Foundation Board, chaired the Research Committee, served as an Associate Editor of The College Student Affairs Journal, and was actively involved in the development of initiatives for graduate students to be involved in SACSA.
