SACS Superstar!
The SACS Education Foundation has created a new opportunity to honor SACS employees and would like your assistance. Students, community members, and colleagues can nominate a SACS employee who has gone above and beyond to impact our students. Any SACS employee can be nominated, including teachers, custodians, bus drivers, and nurses. If you see a staff member who excels at their duties and goes the extra mile to help others, nominate them for this award by scanning the QR code on the flier. SACS staff spends so much time doing their best to make the learning environment for students as good as possible, so it is our turn to show them appreciation by acknowledging the work of the individuals. Take some time to think about who you know is making a big difference and submit the application by the 15th of each month, where the nominated staff members have a chance to win $250. This January, Mr. Haff, Social Studies
Thank you,
SACS Education Foundation

The Spartan Alliance Band has had a tremendous season so far and is looking to finish strong as they wrap up in November at Bands of America Grand National Finals. The Spartan Alliance won the Bands of America Northwest Ohio Regional in September and competed at the Bands of America Super Regional (BOA) in Indianapolis this past weekend, competing against 89 bands from 9 different states, earning a place in finals and placing 10th overall. The Spartan Alliance will compete this Saturday at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis at the ISSMA Semi State competition, trying to advance to their 37th consecutive ISSMA State Finals appearance. State finals will take place on November 9th at Lucas Oil Stadium and Band of America Grand Nationals will take place on November 15-16 where the band will perform in prelims Friday evening, stay the night in Indianapolis, rehearse in the Convention Center, hopefully advancing to Semi-Finals Saturday afternoon, and Finals Saturday evening. 112 bands from across the United States will be performing at this final competition of the season.
The Local 166 is a trade academy where students in Fort Wayne have the opportunity to learn skills that will prepare them for jobs in trades including law enforcement, plumbing, and construction. The program recently hosted a parent night where students had the opportunity to show off their skills. In November, students will travel to Aboite Elementary to build with the Kindergarten class. The Journal Gazette has written several articles about this program, linked below. For students interested in jobs in trades after high school, this would be a wonderful opportunity to prepare for those jobs!

Student Athletes!
Here are some student athletes who received recognition for "Athlete of the Week" through October! These student athletes have displayed outstanding athleticism, improvement, team spirit, and sportsmanship throughout their games.
Justice Teague - Unified Flag Football “He is one of our athletes that has really matured since last year. He is a crucial member of our team and has been at every practice and played both offense and defense for every single game we have had this season!”
Braylee Morris - Girls Soccer “Braylee is a sophomore who led our team in goals last season and this year she has started the first 5 games scoring 10 goals for an average of 2 per game. She is a quiet leader as she leads the team with action and her numbers show it. Braylee shows her competitive spirit even in training as she is always looking to win in any competition presented to her."
Gabriel Ageyman - Boys Soccer "He is a great and talented athlete who works hard during practices. In the game against Snider, his performance led to great team performance and result. He scored 4 goals out of the 7, and the JV ended up winning 7:2."
Lydia Shaw - Cross Country "Lydia Shaw has been an integral part of the cross country team since her freshman year. She played a significant role in our 6th place finish, our 4th place finish, and our 1st place finish in the last three seasons. This season was riddled with nagging injuries and she was unable to complete in several races. However, her leadership never wavered. She always has the exact words her team needs to hear at critical times during training and meet preparation. Lydia will not be joining the postseason, but her words of encouragement and commitment to the team will be important reminders for the team as they move into the tournament."
Peyton Renier - Unified Flag Football "Peyton has really stepped up this year and is an amazing leader for our team. She is patient, kind, hardworking and inclusive in all that she does for our team. [We are] really proud of her!"
Cooper Knoblauch - Boys Cross Country "On Sectional Saturday Cooper won his first race and led his team to a dominant Sectional Championship Performance! He ran a 15:43 which was a personal record by 8 seconds. Not only that, he improved his time from just 3 weeks on the same course by 25 seconds! He now holds the fastest time from a Homestead student on that course"
Ben Garrean - Boys Tennis
Ben competed at the IHSAA State Tennis meet for #1 singles. Ben and his opponent played for 2.5 hours. Ben, unfortunately, lost 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 to a player from Center Grove. Ben fought hard and had an amazing singles record of 23-5 to end the boys tennis season.
