Take a look at some of our projects this year!
Casco students, along with the entire 6th grade and our , have been working hard to create a beautiful concrete raised bed community garden!
Casco students are working on bringing the greenhouse back to life! They have planted lettuce, spinach, beets, carrots, beans, marigolds, impatients, peonies and so much more! We hope to share our plants with the community this spring!
Our students designed a Road Trip Project with a goal of visiting three National Parks in the US. Students researched the parks, studied US geography, and used budgeting skills to plan a 7 day trip around the country. It was eye opening to them to see the cost of transportation, food, and lodging! Once their trip was planned, they presented their journey to their classmates in a gallery style presentation, with the hope to convince each other to choose their trip!
Genius Hour! Students drove their learning during this project. They narrowed down topics that they were interested in learning more about and presented what they taught themselves. Project ranged from learning guitar, learning a new language, building a functioning bubble gum machine, creating a recipe book and so many more!
Culture celebration! Students chose a country to study and made a sample of traditional food to share with their classmates.
Eco Maine came to visit to teach us all about trash! Students were able to reduce their trash over 20 pounds!! This was a part of our composting project. Saco Middle School now composts at lunch time, partnering with Garbage to Garden.
Casco students decorated pumpkims for the Annual Saco Maine Street Harvest Fastival! Pumpkins donated by Leary Farm.
Team Casco headed to Ferry Beach in Saco Maine to complete a beach clean up! They collected 4 bags of trash and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine and fresh air!
