Class Overview

Rules:

Senior year is normally a tough hike at the start of the year before you go gliding downhill. Even though you have the most experience in the building, you are getting ready to start all over again. You are expected to be more responsible than ever! This applies to your school work, your attendance, your grades and all things academic. It also applies to how you treat others.

Respect is one of your responsibilities. You are to be respectful of yourself, those who are around you, this building and this community.

Communication is key. Please come and talk to me if you are struggling with your school work or with anything that might be having a negative impact on you. I want to hear the positive too! Just know that as your teacher, I am here to help you in any way I can.

Mistakes are going to happen. Correct them when you can and accept that sometimes you can't. Either way, you can learn from the experience. Making mistakes is part of being human.

Be forgiving of yourself and others. Even though we are all trying to do our best, some days will be better than others.

Be flexible. We are going through a new time here at school. I will all try to be as consistent as possible. Just know that any change I make is so things can be better for the everyone.

Do your best and be honest. I would rather see you struggle than cheat. I will help you.

Accept that you are going to have to do work. You get what you sweat for. English can be your favorite subject, where you struggle the most or somewhere in between. It doesn't matter because everyone in class is going to do work. Although the final product won't always look the same, the goal is improvement for everyone.

Supplies:

I am asking that you have the following supplies for the FIRST QUARTER. Since we are all in a new kind of environment, I am trying to learn what will be best for you and for class. Towards the end of Marking Period 1 I will reassess our notebook system with you and make appropriate changes.

  • 1 notebook for English only.

  • a pocket folder

  • pens and pencils

  • extra mask in a ziploc bag with your name on it. This will be stored in the classroom as a back up for you.

  • if possible, a box of tissues for the classroom.
