Grade/Subject: 6th Grade Special Education Math, Resource Room, Reteach

Hi! My name is Mrs. Desmond. I have had the pleasure to work at Samoset Middle School for the last 17 years. I have had the opportunity to work in both the Math and Science department.

I currently live in Coram with my husband Chris and our two children. Chris and I have been together for 5 years! Our son, Murphy, is two years old, and our other son, Christopher, is 7 months old. We also have two dogs Molly (10) and Bella (5) - They are both rescue dogs. They keep us busy! We absolutely love Disney and we cannot wait to take our children there one day.

I attended both St. Joseph's College and Stony Brook University. I am dually certified in in Elementary Education (K-6) and Special Education( Pre-K to 21). I have also have a Masters of Coaching (yes coaching :) )

I am thrilled to be working with your child in sixth grade! While recently these times are making education very difficult for many students and families, we will continue to support each other while we embark onto a new school year. Middle school is an exciting challenging time for children. During these next few years, children are faced with new adventures in the world of learning. The most important advice I can give you as we begin another school year is to give your child (and yourself) ample time to adjust. The middle school routine and demands are very different from elementary school.

Sixth grade is such a fun year with so many wonderful learning activities to celebrate. In order to have a fun year, my most important goal is to create a family of learners in my classroom. I am committed to creating a classroom environment where your child is a valued, trusted, and integral part of our family of learners.
