Pumpkin Bread
We are so excited to be making pumpkin bread in our classroom on Tuesday! Thank you to all of our parent volunteers for coming in to help, bake, wrap and return! We know that everyone would love the chance to get in to Chippewa to do fun things for our children so we are inviting one parent per child to come to make gingerbread houses with us the last week of school before the Holiday vacation in December! More information coming next week! But save the date...Wednesday, December 22nd 10-11am!
Math
The children have been working so hard on our second math unit, Multiplication and Division. It is called unit 2 for Sachem, but mission 3 on Zearn!
We have been learning many different strategies for multiplying, the last which will be standard algorithm or the "old school" way!
Students can work on Zearn lessons at home to practice and catch up!! Just log in with Clever!
The homework book can be found on google classroom if your child needs it!
Reflex is also a great tool for facts! Knowing their multiplication facts is so important in helping your child feel more comfortable with this unit! Login information is in your child's agenda!

SEL
We read "The Magician's Hat" this week! Ask your child about it!
Readers Workshop
We started our new readers' workshop unit, FICTION! Over the past two weeks, we having been learning and identifying different types of fiction. We have also been learning about each story element, setting, characters, plot and theme!
Students have been completing Raz kids reading assignments each week!
We started our second group novel, with some fantasy, realistic fiction and mystery!
We are also reading "The Hoboken Chicken Emergency" as a class!
We are continuing our work on a reading comprehension passages each week. We meet in small groups to go over how to find the answers within the text! We call it, FUN...ask your child what that means!
Writers workshop
We published our personal narratives and are now trying our hand at narratives. We rea using personal experiences to create new stories involving characters, problems, solutions and theme! I love when our Writer's Workshop goes hand in hand with our reader's workshop!
We have also been working on a very special Thanksgiving writing project!
Spelling
The spelling lists and assignment reminders will always be in google classroom for the kids!
We are really starting to notice our spelling patterns in our reading! Students are even recognizing the patterns while spelling other words in their writing!
Science
We are finishing up our second Science unit, Surviving in Ecosystems! We have been doing many fun activities and the kids have tons of resources in their green folders, notebooks and google classroom to use for studying!
We are working on a culminating project that brings both of our units together! The are having a blast!
Our test will be November 23rd!
