Class snack time will be in the afternoon, typically from 1:20-1:35
Your child will be in charge of bringing snack for the class 2-3 times a 9 weeks. I will rotate through names. You can find your child's snack days on their behavior calendar in their folder. You do not have to bring it specifically on that day, you can bring it any time before.
If you forget to bring snack, just send something in at your earliest convience. If you are unable to provide snack, please private message me and we will get it take care of.
When it comes to the classroom, safety and learning are always our top priority. So when we have an expectation it is so that we can all be safe and everyone has a learning environment that fosters our best learning.
Once expectations have been explicitly taught, I hold my students to meeting those expectations. 97% of the time they do! However, they are 4/5/6 years old and sometimes it is harder than others. When students do not meet the expectations, these are the steps that will be taken.
Non-verbal Reminder - this can look anything like a tap on the shoulder, a look, or a head shake. This is to let them know that I am noticing what they are doing, and they need to get back on track.
Verbal Reminder - this is when I will give them a verbal warning about what they are doing
Private Conversation - The student would be pulled to the side so that we can discuss what is happening. More often than not, this is more of me listening and guiding them to regulate any feelings they may have.
Loss of Privilege - walking laps at recess, a fun activity taken away, not getting to sit with the class during learning, etc..
Oopsie Note - An Oopsie note, is a note that goes home that the student and I fill out together. We will discuss what happened, and how we will do better next time. It is signed by both the student and myself. Then is sent home to be signed by an adult and sent back to school.
Parent Phone Call - Sometimes the phone call is with the student, and other times it is just myself. I have a phone in my classroom, so if there are times that we are having a hard day, or a repeated behavior, the student will be asked to make the phone call with me.
Office Referral - Once all steps have been taken and parents have been notified, the office will step in and assist with any discipline actions.
One of our favorite Kindergarten traditions is Foodie Friday! Most Fridays, we will create a fun food craft that connects to what we've been learning during the week or our monthly classroom theme.
These hands-on activities are a great way for students to strengthen their fine motor skills while applying what they've learned in a meaningful and memorable way. Whether we're creating letters, shapes, life cycles, or themed snacks, students get to learn by doing!
Students will always be encouraged to try one bite of their creation, but if they don't like it, they do not have to eat it. The goal is to explore, create, and have fun while learning!
If you would like to sponsor a Foodie Friday by providing the food items for one of our activities, it would be greatly appreciated! Your generosity helps make these special learning experiences possible for our class.
Thank you for supporting our little learners! We can't wait for a year full of fun, learning, and tasty creations! ❤️
