Class snack time will be in the afternoon, typically from 1:00-1:10
Your child will be in charge of bringing snack for the class 2-3 times a 9 weeks. I will rotate through names. You can find your child's snack days on their behavior calendar in their folder. You do not have to bring it specifically on that day, you can bring it any time before.
If you forget to bring snack, just send something in at your earliest convience. If you are unable to provide snack, please private message me and we will get it take care of.
We strive to have artificial dye free snacks.
Please read labels and try to avoid snacks that have dyes in them. Be mindful that just because something doesn't look like it will have dyes does not mean it won't. Also, not everything that is colorful has artificial dyes.
Good dye free snacks: Goldfish, Cheeze-its, Cheerios, Motts or Black Forest fruit snacks, graham crackers, and lots more.
I do ask that you do not send any liquids ie. yogurt, juice, applesauce, fruit
Snacks can be individually packaged or in larger boxes like cereal or goldfish boxes.
When it comes to the classroom, safety and learning are always our top priority. So when we have an expectation it is so that we can all be safe and everyone has a learning environment that fosters our best learning.
Once expectations have been explicitly taught, I hold my students to meeting those expectations. 97% of the time they do! However, they are 4/5/6 years old and sometimes it is harder than others. When students do not meet the expectations, these are the steps that will be taken.
Non-verbal Reminder - this can look anything like a tap on the shoulder, a look, or a head shake. This is to let them know that I am noticing what they are doing, and they need to get back on track.
Verbal Reminder - this is when I will give them a verbal warning about what they are doing
Logical Consequence - Make a Choice - students will then be given a choice that aligns with the behavior that is expected of them. For example if a student is continuing to disrupt learning on the carpet I would say, "because you are continuing to disrupt learning on the carpet, you can sit in the carpet box or at your desk."
Private Conversation - The student would be pulled to the side so that we can discuss what is happening. More often than not, this is more of me listening and guiding them to regulate any feelings they may have.
Parent Contact - This could look like an Oopsie Note in their folder, a message to a parent, or a phone call with or without the student.
Office Referral - Once all steps have been taken and parents have been notified, the office will step in and assist with any discipline actions.
