The SabaterLAB Clinical Training and Service Internship Program offers experiential learning opportunities for students at various levels of academic and professional development.
Participants engage in mental health and community service initiatives while gaining hands-on experience in psychology, education, and related fields.
High School Level
Must be a rising junior or senior.
Interest in psychology, mental health, social services, or community work.
Recommendation letter from a teacher, counselor, or mentor.
Parental or guardian consent required if under 18.
Undergraduate Level
Must be enrolled in a college or university.
Pursuing a degree in psychology, social work, education, public health, or a related field.
Completion of, or in the process of completing, at least one introductory psychology or human services course.
Academic or professional reference required.
Graduate Level
Enrollment in a graduate program in psychology, mental health counseling, social work, or a related discipline.
Completion of core coursework in clinical or community psychology preferred.
Interest in clinical training, research, or community-based mental health services.
Faculty or supervisor recommendation required.
Postgraduate & Early Career Professionals Level
Recent graduates or early career professionals seeking clinical experience or community engagement.
Background in psychology, counseling, social work, or related fields.
Professional reference and résumé required.
May apply for supervisory or mentorship roles within the program.
Independent/Directed Mentorship Level
Open to individuals not currently enrolled in an educational institution, or those participating in a program that does not require this internship for academic credit but who still seek meaningful professional development.
Applicants may be interested in earning Professional Development Units (PDUs) and/or Continuing Education Units (CEUs) where available.
Demonstrated interest in psychology, mental health, education, or community service.
Must submit a personal statement outlining goals for participating in the program and how it aligns with their personal or professional development.
Reference from a mentor, employer, or community leader required.
Ideal for adult learners, career changers, or self-directed learners seeking structured mentorship, experiential learning, and community engagement.
General Requirements
Commitment to the full program duration (varies by level).
Active participation in community projects and mental health initiatives.
Completion of all training sessions and assigned responsibilities.

Successful completion of a background check, as well as compliance with any federal, state, or municipal requirements relevant to the host organizations or internship activities.
