Rationale:
This workshop is designed to bring together theorists and observers working on various topics related to magnetars, with a focus on discussions. We hope it acts as a way to share expertise, explore crossovers between different topics, and thus uncover new directions for research.
The planned topics include:
Crustal dynamics and their interaction with the internal and external B-fields
Radiation processes; surface emission and magnetospheric processes
Observables; persistent emission properties, burst emission properties, QPOs
Organisers: Ersin Göğüş, Sam Lander
Contacts for enquiries:

Venue
The venue is in the historic centre of Istanbul city, close to the major tourist attractions. There will be no registration fee. However, there is, unfortunately, no funding available for accommodation or travel. If you plan to take part in this event, you would need to use your own travel grants.
Right: the venue, the erstwhile Banque d’Athènes, with the top of the Galata Tower (with scaffolding) poking out behind.

Transport
Istanbul has two large airports, at opposite ends of the city, and both at a considerable distance from the centre. Both have metro stations and other public transport connections to the centre (though you may need to change in the centre/walk some distance to get to your hotel); around rush hour the metro can be considerably faster than road transport. Many hotels will organise shuttle buses to meet flights. Otherwise, there are many taxis.
