T4 | OCTOBER Recap 2022

Prayer for Mission Month

Lord of all creation, we are reminded in this month of October of your call to your followers, that, through our baptism we have been made sharers in the mission of the Church to “go and make disciples of all nations”.

Through different times in human history you have invited us to share in the task of transforming our world so that people of all nations and cultures may have the opportunity of experiencing the saving love and mercy of your Son Jesus Christ.

The world of today is torn by division, conflict and mistrust and the planet on which we depend for our survival is threatened with extinction through greed and ignorance of the consequences of not preserving the gift of creation which you have bequeathed to humankind.

Empower us through the gifts of the Holy Spirit to be courageous and zealous in bearing witness to the Gospel. Grant to leaders of different nations a listening ear, to hear the cries of the poor and afflicted in their midst, that people everywhere may share in the riches of your creation and  become partakers in the task of making all things new in the name of your Son our Lord Jesus Christ who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever.

Amen.

Emily Clarke | Principal

St Alipius Parish School

Hello everyone,

At this point in the year I begin to look around in awe and wonder at everything we have achieved and how close we are getting to successfully completing another year. I am reminding myself to take big deep breaths and bring myself back to the present when my mind scuttles forward to all the things that still need to be done on my to-do list this year!

This month has been one of great celebration. I was so privileged to witness our students celebrate the Sacrament of Eucharist this term.  These masses truly exemplified who we are at St Alipius and our strength in making these celebrations a rich experience for all. I had several visitors from other Parishes commenting on how joyful and engaging the masses were, particularly the music and the children's singing voices projecting throughout the church. I thank Jason and Adam for their time and dedication in making that weekend so special.

Japan Day was another huge success and I thank Adam for his exceptional organisation of the day. I walked around all of the activities and was so proud of our Year 5 and 6 students as they led their workshops for younger students. A big thank you to our parents who no doubt had a hand in some great costumes too!

Our commitment to social justice shone through this term as we celebrated Rice Day and Mission Day. Rice Day isn't always the most comfortable or enjoyable day, as we minimise what we eat and live a little more closely to how others do in under-developed nations. I thank our students and staff for participating in this annual initiative. This sacrifice is always made special with Mission Day the following day. Our Year 6 community created fun (and delicious!) opportunities for our students to raise money for Catholic Mission.  Make sure you check out all the photos below!

We have so much more to look forward to this term, with our school Sports Day this week and our Christmas Fest coming up next month. Let's enjoy this last half of the term and remember to stay in the present moment as much as we can!

sacramental program 2022

Congratulations to the students of St Alipius Parish who recently received and celebrated the Sacrament of First Eucharist.

Receiving Holy Communion for the first time is a very special occasion in our faith journey and we thank all those who support us on this journey.

Crazy Socks for Mission Day

Thank you to our wonderful St Alipius community for your contributions and for supporting us to raise awareness and funds for those in need of our support.

This year, our fundraising efforts in conjunction with Catholic Mission are helping to build brighter futures for communities in Ethiopia.

Mission day 2022

Each year, the students of the Year 6 Learning Community plan and prepare a wonderful afternoon of fun and festivities all in the name of FUNDRAISING for Catholic Mission Month - the month of  October.

This wonderful act of service is an important component of leadership for our senior students and one that they look forward to embracing each year.

The weather isn't always in our favour on days like these but with persistence and a positive mindset, our leaders were able to adjust the afternoon program and make sure that all activities and stalls were able to go ahead rain, hail or shine.

Happy Mission Month!

Sport and Physical Education

We are so grateful for the opportunity to train for long jump and triple jump AT school.

A special thanks to Ned who built this fantastic pit for us on the turf in preparation for the upcoming School Sports Day this week!

Year Six LC

Our Year 5 & 6 students led the fun and festivities of Japan Day at St Alipius last week through the faciliation of dynamic and creative workshops showcasing Japanese culture.

Foundation LC

Last Friday (Mission Day), after Whole School Prayer, we reflected on Rice Day (Thursday), Mission Day (Friday) and the purpose of them both. We played the gratitude game where students picked a popsicle stick and shared something they are thankful for depending on the colour. We created Gratitude Mobiles and enjoyed the Mission Markets held by the senior students. An amazing way to finish the week and remember how lucky we are.

FoundATION LC

In our Writing groups, we have been looking at informative texts. Over the past three weeks students have researched an animal, recorded dot points, turned the dot points into sentences to produce a draft, written good copies and published their information report in the form of this poster. Students are very proud of their work and it can be viewed in the hallway outside our room. Our reports demonstrated evidence of capital letters, full stops, finger spaces, letter formation on dotted thirds / legible letters and stretching the word to record most sounds in words.
