Loving God,
Thank you for the gift of the Easter Season.
Grant us the willingness to spend time this season in prayer with each other so we too can come to understand more
of the Easter Story.
Thank you for the gift of each of us, and for the hope you have given to each member of our family.
Amen.
Dear Families,
It has been an extraordinary big first term, full of challenges and opportunities for us all.
If I was to think of a word to describe this term it would be COMMUNITY.
Our community has shone in so many ways this term.
In the many significant events where our students have presented prayer, acknowledgements, taiko and song.
In the celebrations of our 170 year history.
In coming together as a strong and resilient Ballarat East community.
In gathering back on site for learning conferences, morning teas, whole school prayers and the simple act of social conversations at pick up and drop offs.
As we celebrate Easter, let us remember the importance of community and the power of hope. Let us be grateful for the blessings we have received this term and mindful of those who are less fortunate.
Enjoy your Easter break. Enjoy the slower days, the chocolate and hot cross buns, the change in season and the time with your loved ones. I look forward to seeing you all again in Term 2.
Emily
Congratulations to all of the students who received their Sacrament of Reconciliation this term.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is one of the most unique and beautiful aspects of Catholicism. Jesus Christ, in his abundant love and mercy, established the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Penance, so that we can obtain forgiveness for our sins and reconcile with God and the Church.
We've been enjoying experiencing new sports that include:
BADMINTON
CURLING
PICKLE BALL
History has been a big focus across the school this term. This coincides with our 170 celebrations and also the Humanities components of the Victorian Curriculum.
Learning Intention
We are learning about the past, present and future.
Success Criteria:
We will be successful when we have:
defined the past, present, and future
Disposition:
We are learning to be inquisitive!
We will:
explore and discover new things
ask question.
We are investigating numbers.
We wrote a procedural text for making Honey Joys. We used pictures from our experience to sequence the steps and then had a go at writing what was happening in each pictures.
In the 4/5 learning community we made a meal for a family in our community using some fresh ingredients grown in our school garden.
Fire Safety has been an interest for students this term during investigation after having our fire drill at school recently. As a result, we are working towards making a dramatic play fire station.
Some students have been working on make some safety signs of what to do when their is a fire in a building or their house. Stop Drop and Roll has been a favourite for some to practise.
"Easter is an important time. So the Year 3s went down to the Easter display on Victoria Street and had lunch to acknowledge this time. The Ballarat City Council created this wonderful display to greet locals and visitors alike." - Liam J (Y3)
