The current standing will be updated periodically as we move throughout the season.
Games will be 14 minutes long with a 1 minute half-time break.
1 point for a win.
1 point for meeting the team requirements.
1 bonus point for a team showing sportsmanship, team spirit, ect. (At the discretion of the adults and referees).
Actions that might cause a loss of sportsmanship/ spirit point include: arguing with a referee, inappropriate cheering, unkind comments toward other players on either team, etc.
Grade 6/7 - Teams will play as many other teams as possible throughout the season round robin style. The team with the most points at the end will be the season will be the champions.
Grade 8 - Teams will play other teams, round robin style. Near the end of the season, teams will be placed in a bracket based on their points and play single elimination to determine the champion. This season, the top 4 teams will make the final Bracket.
5 + goalie
In grade 6/7 we will play 2min shifts in which everyone on the court must come off and 6 new players will come on.
Grade 8's, you must have a team of at least 8 players with a maximum of registered and shifts will also be 2min. Game Day, you must have at least 6 or more of your registered players to receive points. If you are short, please come and we can still make a game happen!
Grade 6's, in order to compete for points, you must have at least 2 full rotations.
If your team is unable to meet the roster requirements, you forfeit the 3 points but you can still play the game.
Move the ball down the court by running and passing and throwing the ball into the opponent's net.
You may take 3 steps before you pass.
You are allowed to roll the ball while running and those steps do not count toward your 3 step total.
BUT! You may only do the roll & run once. When you pick up the ball after rolling it, you must pass. You cannot take 3 steps after a roll regardless if you took them before or not.
A ball touching a player's foot results in a turn over.
If a player steps out of bounds (or the ball goes out of bounds) on either side of the court, it will be a turnover to the other team. The other team will throw the ball in from the spot it went out.
Defenders must not try to rip the ball from their opponent's hand.
Defenders must not touch the opponent's body.
Defenders must stay at an arm's length away and can wave their arms in a blocking motion. If 2 opposing players struggle for possession, their will be a jump ball unless it is deemed that 1 player clearly had prior possession.
If a defender knocks a ball out of the air (or catches the ball) it is a change in possession.
The crease arc extends to the gym wall. Therefore, there is no behind the net action.
The only player allowed in the crease is the goalie.
If an attacker puts a foot over the line and into the crease, the result is a turnover and any goal on the play does not count.
Shooting players may not follow the shot by running through the crease or even putting a foot in the crease on the follow through. If a goal is scored while this fault is committed, the goal does not count.
If a defender puts a foot in the crease the result is a penalty shot.
The goalie starts on the thick black line.
The shooter stands behind the 3 point arc.
ball is dead after the shot regardless of the result. The goalie restarts the game.
after a goal, the scoring team retreats to centre and the goalie restarts play with a pass. The scoring team remains at centre until the ball crosses the centre line.
