At Bayside, we pride ourselves on being a place of inclusion where we celebrate ALL of our students’ talents equally. Our Talent Show will provide students with an opportunity to showcase their talents in a safe and inclusive environment free from the pressure of competing, while gaining real performance experience, and learning about the audition process and what it means to be a part of a comprehensive show. With all of that in mind, we encourage all students who are interested in having this experience and sharing their passions, to audition for the show!
Performers will be required to attend two major rehearsals leading up to the show on May 27th.
Tech Rehearsal: Monday May 25th from 3-5:30PM
Full Dress Rehearsal: Tuesday May 26th 3-5:30PM
Attendance at these rehearsals is mandatory as they help to ensure that the show runs smoothly and more importantly, that the students feel ready, comfortable, and confident.
Bayside continues to be committed to ensuring that we are creating a safe environment for our students. During the show we will have a STRICT “No Devices” (phone/filming/recording) policy for ALL attendees. The show will be recorded by a staff member, with individual acts being made available to families afterward as keepsakes. Family members will be invited to attend and performers will have the option of inviting a maximum of 2 guests each from the student body. This helps regulate our numbers and as well as maintain a supportive environment for our performers.

Auditions give students a more authentic experience, as well as ensure a quality show with performers who are serious about their performance. Auditions will not be based on how “talented” the students are, criteria will be based on student *preparedness and **professionalism. Students will be expected to audition in costume with a well-rehearsed act. Students auditioning will be provided with additional information on audition etiquette and procedures at the audition sign-up meeting. We believe that not only do students deserve to have a positive performance experience, but that spectators deserve to see a professional show, and being well-prepared is central to that experience for everyone. Students auditioning who present an act that does not meet these criteria will not be invited to perform in the show.
We ask that acts do not exceed 5 minutes in length (with the understanding that time may have to be reduced depending on the number of acts in the show).
In order to not impact classes, auditions will be held at lunch time and after school.
In order to secure a slot on the audition schedule, students must submit a permission form (attached) signed by a parent or guardian acknowledging the expectations regarding time commitment, preparedness, and eligibility on April 28th at the audition sign up meeting. If your child is auditioning with a group, each member of the group must have their own permission form signed by a parent or guardian.
*Auditions will begin on Wednesday May 6th*
