The COACH Program

The COACH Program is a district-wide, in-school, peer tutoring program available to all students, at all levels, in all subjects. It is designed to empower students to become Academic Coaches to their student colleagues. COACH provides multiple benefits for both students being tutored and those providing assistance. Teachers and the community are winners as well.

COACH is currently active at Maine East and Maine West.

While the district has several tutorial programs in place, the COACH program expands tutorial benefits to all students -- low achieving, high achieving, and everyone in between.

Students serve as tutors within the classroom. Each teacher potentially may receive one tutor for each class he/she teaches. Student coaches receive 1/4 credit for a semester of service. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible to be tutors.
