The before and after school tutoring component not only improves learning for those being tutored and those coaching, it provides income for the student tutors who earn minimum wage for a maximum of three hours per week. Earning while increasing learning is definitely a win-win game plan, and the flexibility and limited hours permit students to participate in activities or take other after-school employment.
Peer tutoring programs consistently raise the achievement of both the students receiving instruction and those providing it. Structured, well-planned programs like COACH, provide solid instructional methods and training, and show the best results. Specific benefits abound for all participants.

Individual and aggregate learning data will be used to measure the success of the program. The District's commitment to the program is long term. There is no cost to receive tutoring services.
Parents willing to pay for tutoring may make a donation to the MTHS District 207 Educational Foundation.
Student tutor "salaries" are paid by the District from funds raised by the Maine Township High School District 207 Educational Foundation. Other costs including three school coordinators, curriculum development fees, and stipends for thirty faculty mentors are paid from grant money obtained by the District. Students today often need and want employment. What could be better than providing students with a chance to earn some money while improving their own learning and that of others?
Invest in student achievement and help develop the local talent of the future employment pool. By supporting COACH, businesses, citizens, and home owners will receive an improved return on their tax dollars by creating a future workforce which is academically "fit" with the necessary work ethic, motivation, organization, and time management skills.
Costs to cover the hourly rate of 150 students tutors is over $80,000 per year. Parents of students being tutored can pay the hourly fee if they wish to do so, thus supporting the program.
