Title III Increasing and Strengthening Parental Outreach

Understanding Parental Outreach

Parent includes a legal guardian or other person standing in loco parentis (such as a grandparent or stepparent with whom the child lives, or a person who is legally responsible for the child's welfare.)

Parental Involvement means the participation of parents in regular, two-way and meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school activities.

Parental Engagement for the purpose of this document the term 'parental engagement' will be used to indicate a shared and continuous responsibility for student achievement, including all activities that parents undertake to help their children succeed in school.

Parental Outreach combines parental involvement and engagement. It provides parents with the required parent and family literacy services, activities, and trainings needed to improve their English language skills. These services enhance the academic achievement of ELs and Immigrant students.
