Why is this section called a Mirage?
Embracing Fluidity
Life is the most difficult teacher of them all. It gives you the test first and the lesson after.
My elders have always told me that life is non-linear.
A concept that prima facie is a self-evident reality, but in retrospect alludes to true comprehension of this age-old wisdom.
School had shielded me from this reality and given me a false sense of security, as I would move on to the 1st grade following Kindergarten. Subsequently, move up a grade in an orderly fashion until the 12th grade.
I was naive to assume that the same progression would continue in University where I was entitled to move up a year until my graduation in 2024. Little did I know that the harsh reality of life’s non-linearity would present itself within weeks of my University experience. A lesson that my elders took many years to crystallize. Despite this , it was the most important takeaway I learnt throughout my years at University and I hope my portfolio was a reflection of my learning experience!
How I wish to evolve...
My Professional Development Goal :
As an international student unaware of the curriculums knowledge needed for the BAFS syllabus I wish to fully understand the nuances and make sure I understand the content very well that even I can achieve the highest grades.
How I Will achieve my goal:
I have since focused my attention in my major pedagogical courses on the analysis of the BAFS syllabus which has allowed me to understand the curriculum orientations present and the goals that the CDC wishes to impart onto their students. I have also talked to my professor and have asked to re-enroll in some introduction to accounting classes which will allow me to fully understand the concepts and work with him individually in order to make sure I have the correct knowledge. I strive to tutor some children who are involved in the AFS syllabus during the summer and of course work closely with Mr. Mui and his guidance.
The end.
