Hello! My name is Nishi Veer and I am currently a senior at Rock Canyon High school. Some of my interests that I will take on in the future include biotechnology, medicine, and theater. After taking biotechnology at Rock Canyon and the rigorous Experimental Design course, I have been able to find my passion in science. However, I have a major role in Rock Canyon Theater and spend majority of my time being an actress, director, and Vice President of Rock Canyon Drama Club! This interest lead me to develop my research project idea.
I have had a major interest in exploring the process of casting different ethnicities in theater productions, primarily in the United States as it is full of diversity. As an actress, I have had to undergo some forms of typecasting and it prompted me to understand if it is just me. This lead me to organize my research project revolving typecasting in highschool productions as I feel students should not be limited during this vital time in their lives.
Additionally, outside of academics and theater, I enjoy skiing, playing the piano, and volunteering at the Dumb Friends League helping sheltered animals.
Here is the past research work I have conducted!
My research group who worked on this project with me during my Junior year.
In the Experimental Research Design course I was able to have the opportunity to conduct research on porcine liver and heart tissues to test different decellularizing agents and their effects on the respective tissues.
This research project helped me learn about the complexities of research and all the positive future implications it holds. This is what inspired me to continue my research journey and explore different topics that need attention, for example, my current research topic, high school theater productions.
