Hi, my name is Natalie, and I am a senior at Rock Canyon High School. This year I am in our AP Research class in the AP Capstone program through my school. Through successfully completing the prerequisites to take this class, by taking AP Seminar and passing both the class and the AP test, I am now enrolled in this course.
My inspiration for this project spurred a lot from my interest in medicine and the science field as a whole. I have always had a passion in science, and it has excited me and interested me from even such a young age. One of the driving forces for my passion of science spurred from the biotechnology course that I was enrolled in my sophomore year. I was able to do a multitude of hands on learning regarding science and ultimately witnessed how this really was used in the real world. During my time in this class, I worked with Drosophila melanogaster, and because of that experience and its ease as a model organism, I wanted to work with it again this year.
I have lived in Colorado my entire life, and absolutely love everything about the state! Outside of school, I volunteer at Children's Hospital, work at Target, and I love spending time with my family and friends! I love being staying active, and especially love being outdoors, with activities such as hiking, snowboarding, and I love the mountains!
