About Vista DECA

What is DECA? 

DECA is a business focused program where members apply their knowledge to real world situations. DECA trains confidence and character, allowing its members to grow into the next generation of innovators and leaders. Members are able to choose to compete in scenarios from a variety of different areas including marketing, business administration, finance, and entrepreneurship. There is an event for everyone! 

Through individual or team role-plays, members step into the shoes of a professional. From a marketing director promoting a new campaign or a finance manager helping a client with their budget, members compete in a variety of different situations that challenge their business knowledge, creativity, communication skills, and confidence. Individual role-plays usually consist of 10 minutes of preparation with the prompt and 10 minutes of presenting in front of one or two judges. Team role-plays are similar, but you and your partner prepare and present together, usually with additional time allocated. DECA also has prepared events, written events, and online challenges.

Through DECA, students have the opportunity to compete at the district, state, and international levels. 

What makes MVHS DECA unique? 

At Mountain Vista, DECA is not just a competition, it is a diverse community. Our members are involved in many aspects of our school and our community, showing leadership not just in DECA but in sports, clubs, and service. 

MVHS DECA provides many opportunities for our members to succeed including practice nights, workshops, and other prep sessions. Our chapter has formed a strong sense of community, and routinely has chapter bonding nights and volunteer/service opportunities.
