Fragrances are common, with a significant amount of people wearing them daily, yet they are also significantly expensive, leading to the rise of fragrance dupes. Fragrance dupes are a recreation of popular fragrances, recreating them in order to smell identical to the real version then selling them at a more affordable cost.
Gavin's Dimensions of Quality explain people's perception of quality and what products need to have in order to forge into the higher end of perceived quality. Many people perceive dupes of fragrances to be significantly worse in quality compared to the real thing, and this is exactly what I am proving within my research. In the dimension of quality of fragrances, longevity of a scent is the most important, and this is what we are going to be testing. If the dupes last just as long or longer, than they are better in quality compared the real dupe and this is the test.
The gap in my research is that no one has really compared quality of dupes in a real study, people just assume that dupes have significantly worse quality than the real thing, and this is what my study is about, to really test the quality of dupes using Garvin's dimensions of quality.
