String Orchestra is a welcoming, non-auditioned ensemble open to all students interested in learning a string instrument. Whether you are picking up a violin, viola, cello, or bass for the first time or returning to music after some time away, this class offers musicians of any skill level the opportunity to make music together in a supportive and inclusive environment. Students will build foundational skills, develop confidence in their playing, and experience the joy of performing as part of a group. No prior experience is required, just a willingness to learn and have fun through music.
Chamber Orchestra is Legend High School’s premier orchestral ensemble, designed for advanced string musicians who are ready to take on challenging repertoire and high-level performance opportunities. This elite group performs a wide range of sophisticated music, both classical and contemporary, and represents the school at concerts, festivals, and special events. Membership in Chamber Orchestra is determined through a required audition process, ensuring that students are placed according to their skill level and musical readiness. The class offers a focused and enriching environment where dedicated musicians can refine their technique, deepen their musical understanding, and perform at an advanced level alongside their peers.
Sonate Corde is a highly competitive, chamber-style ensemble made up of 8 to 10 skilled string musicians selected through a required audition process. This advanced group focuses on small ensemble performance, allowing students to develop a high level of musical independence, collaboration, and expression. In addition to performing challenging repertoire, Sonate Corde is committed to community engagement and regularly participates in outreach projects throughout the year. Members of this ensemble serve as musical ambassadors for the Legend High School Orchestra program, representing the school with professionalism and artistry at both school and community events.
