About the Researcher

Hi! My name is Kathleen, and I'm a senior at Rock Canyon. As someone who has always been very close with my mom and my younger sister, I absolutely love girls' nights. Whether with friends or family,  I have seen a lot of chick flicks and am a declared romantic comedy connoisseur. 

However, one day, my mom showed me an article on how Generation Z is less likely to take risks and have committed relationships than previous generations, describing a generational trend of risk aversion. For the past four years, I have been involved in Speech and Debate and served as the President of our chapter's 200 members, so naturally, my interest in this communication-centered topic was piqued. 

By combining my passion for watching the movies I love with my passion for communication, I will strive to analyze what romantic comedies reveal about changing communication patterns.

After high school, I hope to further my academic interests at either the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan or through the Department of Economics at the University of Chicago.
