My Name is Jacob Horton. I am a senior at Rock Canyon High School. I was born in and have lived in Colorado my entire life. Contrary to my location in a land-locked state my passion lies in the ocean and among the reefs. I've always loved marine animals, especially fish. I began Scuba diving in my Sophomore year and at the same time began keeping marine aquariums in my own home. Since then I have worked as an assistant manager at Aqua Culture, a local fish store, and am currently working to help open another store, Fins Up Reefing Co.
Other than Marine Life, I also love listening to music, skiing, watching football, and playing video games.
My interest in keeping marine aquariums, involvement with the local community, and even recent struggles with montipora eating nudibranchs in my own aquariums have led me to my current research topic of montipora-eating nudibranchs.
After taking a survey "Types of Researchers", I found out that I am a described analytical scientist. This means that I prefer exactness, precision, and controlled variables in an experiment. My favorite type of research is experimental research, where I can test individual variables in a controlled environment to determine the outcome and effect of that variable. I intend to apply my preference for exactness and preferred variables in my experimental research study.
