Lettering

To earn an Orchestra Letter for the academic year 2025-2026, students must meet all of the criteria and complete all of the requirements:

• Demonstrate a positive attitude towards the Orchestra program

• Attend all required rehearsals and performances (all missed performances must be cleared by the director and excused in advance, unless there are special circumstances which disable the student from participating)

• Accumulate 500 points (2nd page), including having authorized signatures where needed

• Show progress musically, related to your potential

• Earn the grade of an “A” each quarter

• Have no attendance problem (including tardies)

• Must be enrolled in the Orchestra class all year

• Scales: Must be performed for Mrs. Ellsworth by April 22, 2026

1st year applicants: 12 major scales-2 octaves

2nd year applicants:  12 minor scales (any form)-2 octaves

3rd year applicants:  12 major arpeggios – 2 octaves

4th year applicants:  Write an essay (2 to 3 pages min) about how     

CHS Orchestra has affected your life as a student and as a person.  

Must read orally to the class!
