Objectives:
To perform string music of different styles, genres, periods
To further expand musicianship through playing an instrument.
To provide opportunities for the student with additional knowledge in pedagogy, music appreciation, theory and notation.
To develop and maintain a framework where students’ can express their emotions through rehearsing and performing.
Graded Assessments:
Rehearsals – During class time and additional dress rehearsals prior to the concert

Out-of-Class Practice
Sightreading, technical (music theory/improv sessions) and composition exercises
Grading Policy:
50% Participation - Practice and Class-work
20% Preparation – Dress rehearsals and Readiness
30% Exercises
Participation is graded heavily in this class. Participation includes a daily class grade and is earned by coming to class prepared with your instrument, pencil, and music folder. At home practice is also important for excelling in playing your instrument.
