Title VII / Indian Education is a federal program designed to provide eligible Indian and Alaska Native students with tutoring, cultural enrichment, and other services to meet the “culturally related academic needs” of American Indian and Alaska Native students.

Title VII / Indian Education is a federal program designed to provide eligible Indian and Alaska Native students with tutoring, cultural enrichment, and other services to meet the “culturally related academic needs” of American Indian and Alaska Native students.

The program's goal is that all American Indian and Alaska Native students will be academically successful, meet the school district's proficiency standards in reading and math, access cultural enrichment activities and opportunities, and access other support services through liaisons/tutors.

The Red Wing School District’s American Indian Parent Committee meets regularly during the school year to review the needs of our American Indian and Alaska Native student population. Meetings are open to all parents of the school district’s American Indian and Alaska Native students.

Title VII eligibility is open to any Red Wing Public School student who is:

1. a member (as defined by the Indian tribe or band) of an Indian tribe or band, including those Indian tribes or bands terminated since 1940, and those recognized by the State in which the tribe or band reside; or

2. a descendant in the first or second degree (parent or grandparent) as described in (1); or

3. considered by the Secretary of the Interior to be an Indian for any purpose; or

4. an Eskimo or Aleut or other Alaska Native; or

5. a member of an organized Indian group that received a grant under the Indian Education Act of 1988 as it was in effect October 19, 1994.

Completion of ED Form 506 is required to determine a student’s eligibility for Title VII support. Completed forms should be sent to Debbie Lundberg at the following address:
