This page is where you will find all the information for each week.
Each Week You will want to do the following:
Attendance. Please do this every time you use this site! Just type your child's name in! Submit.
Watch the circle time video. (Watch once, every day or a couple times)
Practice your names (Daily if you can! Practice on a blank piece of paper by dotting the name, or if you have access to a printer print the name sheets. If your child can do it without a model GREAT!)
Do 2 pre-writing and reading activities posted. There are 5, but please don't feel like you have to do them all. Have fun with them! I provided 5 in case you access every day and need variety!
Do 2 math activities posted. Again, there are 5 posted but please don't feel like you need to do all of them! Just adding more for variety.
Explore any additional resources shared!
Most of all, HAVE FUN with everything we have posted on our sites. Explore, play, and be creative. That's what I want most.
If for any reason you need to contact me, please email me. I will respond to emails as soon as I can. My email is: kjschroeder@rwps.org
Take a peek at pictures we've taken throughout the year. Lots of memories to look back at.
If you are willing and want to share pictures throughout this process, I'd love to add them in to the images. Just email them to kjschroeder@rwps.org
Well, we have made it to the last week. It is not how I expected us to end in the slightest. You'll notice this weeks circle time video is different and much shorter. I hope you all enjoy it and watch it, as there is something special for each child.
Our final Google Meet is on Thursday at 4 PM. I will send a link on Thursday Morning. This week we are going to end our meets with a Pajama Party on Google Meet! So get on your slippers, your jammies and let's have a snack together! I'll probably make some popcorn!
End of Year Video will be coming. If you have not sent me a photo of your child holding a piece of paper please do! They are going into the video! I will be sharing the video with you all Thursday or Friday.
Activity #1: Rainbow write the alphabet. Using the sheets I sent, or if you need a new one here is one, rainbow write the ABCs. You can use different colored markers, pens, crayons or even paint!
Activity #2: Lego ABC Building! Using your Legos, Duplos, or blocks, make the letters of the alphabet. See if you can make your name out of Legos!
Activity #3: Magazine collage. Using old magazines, cut up and create a collage of your favorite things. You can cut letters out and make your name too! Let your child use scissors, but if they find it difficult, rip the page out and get rid of extra paper around what they want.
Activity #4: Fun Day! Read a book using silly voices! They can be low voices, high voices, robot voices, opera singing voices or many others!
Activity #1: Make environmental print puzzles. Use the front of the box of cereal (or other snack boxes). Cut it into pieces making it a puzzle. Put the puzzle together. Make it minute to win it game and time it to see how fast you can make it!
Activity #2: Make snake patterns. Use pom poms, buttons or beads. Having your child create patterns is great, but if they cannot you can start one and have them finish it
Activity #3: Rocketship blastoff! Create a rocket on a piece of paper and color it. Then using your number flashcards, put them in order to create a countdown for “blastoff” of your rocket! You can practice counting it forwards and backwards!
Activity #4: Fun day! Mix up some treats like a snack mix. Some of my favorites to mix are cereal, fruit snacks, gold fish, teddy grahams and other snacky little snacks. Mix it together using measuring cups and spoons. Then take a small cup. Sort all of the snack in your cup. Then graph it to see which one has more!
Asking a Sibling for a Turn Social Story. We know how hard it can be to ask our siblings or others for a turn (or help). This social story is a great tool to use to help your child ask a sibling for a turn.
When We All Come Together Again Social Story discusses how your child may feel about seeing their friends again, and how to help handle those "Big Emotions." While many children will feel excited to see their friends again, some may have some anxiety towards it. They will be seeing new things, such as people wearing masks out and about. Validate these big emotions, and remind them you are their safekeeper, and will be keeping them safe.
Acitivity #1: Connect the dots rainbow! This is a great skill for students to recognize and count the numbers, as well as colors!
Activity #2: Make your own sensory bottle or calm down bottle! The things I love to use are: warm water, clear glue, fine and chunky glitter, and a water bottle. Just make sure to super glue the top when your ready (it's not a fun clean up). Here is a link to a great tutorial!
Activity #3: Make a delicious snack of Ice Cream in a Bag! If you have never done this, it's super good and fun experiment to make! Top it with some of your favorites: sprinkles, chocolate syrup, caramel, or something else (maybe crushed Oreos!!).
Activity #4: Get Your Body Movin! With Ms. Kaity, Ms. Kandi and Ms. Jo!
Hello! Week 8! We have this week and next week left together! I hope that you can make it to our drive through graduation on June 1st. Our time is at 1 PM. I have been working on a special gift for each one of you!
Google Meet is on Thursday at 4 PM! I will send a link on Thursday Morning! I'll be sharing our new puppy, Daisy over the chat!
Activity #1: ABC Chutes and Ladders Game! Use this one or create one similar to this!
Activity #2: Use those toilet paper rolls for good use! Make funny faces on those rolls and then cut and give them a hair cut. Here'sa picture for an idea!
Activity #3: Put your letter flashcards in a line on the floor. Pretend you are a train and chug over each letter. As you go over them say the letter and the sound it makes! (Start with only a couple of letters and slowly add more!) You can put them in order or mix them up!
Activity #4: Practice writing your first and last name! I sent you a practice page you can use! This is great practice to get ready for kindergarten! Which you are almost kindergarteners!
Activity #5: Fun Day! Make up some silly rhyming words that go with your name. Then you can rhyme words with dog, cat and sit.
Activity #1: Pizza counting activity. You’ll need two plates! On both of them, using a ruler (or straight edge of some sort) divide the plate up into 8 triangle pizza slices. Write the numbers 1-8 (or higher numbers if your child is ready)on one. On the other slices draw the corresponding dots. Have your child match the dots to the right number.
Activity #2: Hang up your numbers flashcards. Turn the lights off and use a flashlight to find the numbers. When you find them say the number!
Activity #3: Create a pretend phone on a piece of paper, or use an old cell phone. Practice teaching your child important phone numbers that they may need in case of an emergency. Some numbers would include, 911, mom’s phone number, dad’s phone number, grandparents, etc. This is a great thing for them to learn. You can write the number out on a piece of paper for them to practice. Put a picture of who it is next to each number so they can associate who they are calling.
Activity #4: Create a “Chicka Chicka Tree” using toilet paper roll and paper (or popsicle sticks if you have any!). Then roll a dice and put that number of small items on the tree (I’d suggest cereal or small toys). Try to see how full you can get the tree before they all fall down!
Activity #5: Fun Day! Create a treasure map. Hide a treasure somewhere and make a map for your parents to find it!
Activity #1: My parent is my safekeeper!
Activity #2: Watch these hilarious skits on how we respond to our children's behaviors. They make you think!
Activity #1: Frozen Egg! Freeze a small toy in a bowl of water. Let your child try to get it out using water, safely chipping away ice or letting the sun melt it. You can make predictions on how long it will take.
Activity #2: The next activity is from this site too, but I was digging more and it’s got a LOT of ideas. So awesome! Saving it for myself and next year!
Activity #3: Grow a rainbow! This is SO COOL. I wish I could do this with the kiddos in school! If you do this, share a picture!
Activity #4: Build a balloon powered Lego car! Isn't that awesome? Have a race with your siblings!
Welcome to week 7! We are changing things up for our Circle Time Video again this week! Have fun! Send me those Flat Ms. Kaity pictures!
Google Meet will be on Thursday at 4 PM. Reminder sent on Wednesday, and invite link of Thursday!
Activity #1: ABC tracing page that was sent in the package in the mail. Feel free to use paint with q-tips or markers or crayons! Have fun with it!
Activity #2: Symmetry drawing! This is a fun activity to give your child a little bit of a challenge! Complete the other half of the picture, creating symmetry! They have both right and left handed versions. So make sure that you use the right one! If you don't have access to a printer these are easy to recreate with marker and paper!
Activity #3: Rainbow Road ABC Game! Grab some game pieces, and a dice. See if you can make it to the end of the Rainbow ABC Road!
Activity #4: Make a card! Take a piece of paper and fold it in half. Decorate it! Write to: and from: and if you need help ask your parents to help write words! You can use the alphabet chart that I sent in the mail too! Then send it in the mail to surprise someone!
Activity #5: Fun Day! Build a tent using lots of blankets! Then grab a favorite book and flashlight. Read your book by flashlight with the other lights off! Then you can make shadow puppets with the flashlights!
Activity #1: Number sense post its! You can use the flashcards I sent in the mail. Take a paper and dot out different numbers (like in the picture). Have your child take their flashcards (or post it notes with the numbers) and match the number to the correct dot. This works on them not needing to count the dots and recognize them right away!
Activity #2: Toothpick shape cards! Get busy creating different shapes using toothpicks and playdoh. Don't have those? Find other similar items around your house! Q-Tips will work, or marshmallows! You can get creative and build many other structures!
Activity #3: Count to 20 and Work Out! Video
Activity #4: Shape Tap! Someone calls out a shape. Then you walk around and tap everything that is that shape in the room. See how many shapes you can find!
Activity #5: Fun Day! Find a game board and play together with your family. Some great ones are Chutes and Ladders, Candyland, Pie in the Face or simple game like Go Fish!
Activity #1: Caring Connections Calendar

This is an awesome website to checkout! This has a lot for handwriting. They also have a ton of other freebies!
Float challenge! Build a boat and see if you can get it to float!
Check out this awesome website that talks about how to help your child calm down.
Totschooling.net has a lot of free activites and things you can print out for using at home! I use some stuff in my classroom too! Take a peek and explore!
Have you created your safe space at home? Having a safe space for the students to go to while at home can help them learn to self-regulate. In our classroom we have an area that shows our different breathing techniques and has a comfy place to sit and calm ourselves. I'll attach some of our breathing techniques for you to use and print if you are able! The four we use are: Drain, Balloon, Pretzel and Star. I also included our faces for how they are feeling, and cranky cream label.
For name dot it page, color each letter a different color at the bottom. For example K would be red for me. Then at the top color all other K's red. A would then be orange. At the top I would color all A's orange. I'll share a picture as well!
I will be adding more to this part as the week goes on, and time goes on!
If you do not have access to a printer, that is OK! Don't worry about it! Just having students practice writing their name is great. If they need you to print it first, and then copy it that is just fine. If they can do it by themselves great! Keep them working on writing that first name. And if they seem ready you can show them their last name!
Take an adventure with these online resources. Many are free during this time. This list will ALWAYS stay here. I will add more to it as time goes on. Let me know some of your favorites!
I will be sending an invite for Epic! for you to join my classroom roster! Scholastic has great resources loaded for preschool, such as books and activities. Starfall has GREAT practice for both writing, reading and math. Just select the correct grade!
If EPIC! is needing a code, please use this: GXY-8892
I am uploading all students and parents emails into ABCmouse. If you already have an account, I was unable to add your email to our class roster. So sorry about this.

Families, I know this is a difficult time. I do not expect you to turn your house into a preschool and become the teacher. Do some of the activities, read some books, but mostly play with your child, if you are able, and reassure them they are safe. If you are struggling with routine, make a visual schedule for you and your child. Involve them in it and hang it where you will see it. I'll share some resources for creating a visual schedule with you to help this be easier. Dr. Becky Bailey, developer behind our Conscious Discipline, has shared 5 helpful responses for families. Conscious Discipline has shared a lot of their online content with us during this time. Read the "Why Can't I Go to School?" Social story they have created for us. Explore that! I want you to have fun with your kids, and not stress about the "school." I've got that part covered! Wishing you well, Ms. Kaity
