Matter in Space

Space

E1 Investigate and describe ways that human understanding of Earth and space has improved

• I can describe the distribution of matter in star systems, galaxies, nebulae and the universe as a whole.

• I can describe and compare the characteristics of bodies in our solar system with Earth, such as orbital period, temperature, and composition

• I can use azimuth, altitude, parallax & AU and light years for determining the position of objects in space.

• I can investigate predictions about the motion and alignment of bodies in space, such as eclipses

Indigenous star knowledge Project

Indigenous Star/Universe Knowledge Project

Using the resources below as a starting point, research star stories from Indigenous nations and communities across Turtle Island. Using the Storyboard (attached), you can organize your chosen sky story in a way that will help you to retell that story. Once the Indigenous Sky Story storyboard is complete, you are to create an artistic representation of this star story through an infographic, a poster, a comic, a story, a play, etc.
