In compliance with New Jersey law P.L. 2013, c.210 we utilize the MAP Reading Fluency Dyslexia Screener as our universal screener for dyslexia with all first grade students each spring. This screener flags students who present as having indicators of dyslexia. The screener analyzes items such as: encoding, alphabet knowledge, sound symbol recognition and decoding skills, phonemic and phonological awareness, and rapid automatized naming.
Students older than 3rd grade who struggle with reading will be given the Colorado Learning Disabilities Questionare- Reading Sub-scale Screener
Students identified as "minimal risk" will continue with general education curriculum
Students identified as "moderate risk" will be screened for tier 2 multisensory reading services
Students identified as "significant risk" will be screened for tier 3 multisensory reading services
