Mechanical Engineering

The department offers B.E. in Mechanical Engineering with an annual intake of 120 students, an M.Tech in Product Design and Manufacturing, and Computer Integrated Manufacturing and Machine Design with an annual intake of 90 students. Research and Development established in 1986 offers M.Sc. (Engg), Integrated Ph.D and Ph.D programs under VTU, Belagavi. Both B.E (Mechanical Engineering) and M.Tech are Autonomous programs.

B.E in Mechanical Engineering got accredited by NBA, New Delhi for three years in 2000, for five years in 2003, 2008 and for three years in 2015 and 2018. M.Tech in Product Design and Manufacturing got accredited for three years in 2014. M.Tech in Machine Design got accredited for two years in 2018.

The department is engaged in sponsored research, consultancy, testing and characterization majorly in the areas of advanced materials development, processing and design. Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechtraonics (ADAM) was started in 2018 in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz.
