Application Request Guidelines
Transcripts
The Guidance Department will process transcripts with 15 school days of notice. If applying to multiple schools, please provide a separate cover sheet for each school.
Each transcript request must be accompanied by an addressed and stamped envelope. All accompanying paperwork regarding addresses, student data, and relevant information requested by each school (i.e. academic awards, accomplishments, leadership skills) should be completed prior to submitting forms to Guidance.
Transcript requests received with fewer than 15 school days of notice or that do not adhere to the stated guidelines cannot be guaranteed to arrive by the deadline.
Recommendation Letters
Please empower your child to approach teachers in requesting recommendation letters. They should first ask each teacher if they will write a strong letter of recommendation. Students MUST provide teachers with an addressed and stamped envelope for each application. They will also need to provide each teacher with a Letter of Recommendation form. This is typically a standard form from the receiving High School. If the receiving High School has no such form, a letter from a parent/guardian indicating the following will suffice:
1. Who the letter is on behalf of (Student's Name)
2. Parent permission to share relevant information about a student
3. Name of the School to which the student is applying
All student information on an application should be completed prior to requesting information from the teacher. A "brag sheet" will also assist in enabling teachers to write strong letters of recommendation. If you are interested in receiving a strong letter of recommendation, please provide a "brag sheet" detailing your extracurricular activities. All Recommendation requests require 20 school days to be processed. Recommendation letter requests with fewer than 20 school days notice cannot be guaranteed to arrive by the deadline.
Interviews
Mrs. Liebeskind is available to mock interview your child. Mrs. Liebeskind also offers tips for “acing the interview.” Students may sign up to meet Mrs. Liebeskind by filling out a form from the “Notes for Mrs. Liebeskind” bin located in each homeroom class.
