Welcome!
Mrs. Elana Liebeskind
Rutherford High School Counselor
201-438-7675 x 2240
I am Elana Liebeskind and I am your child's School Counselor. I received my Bachelor degree in Psychology from Union College and my Master of Science in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. After completing my degree, I pursued my certification in School Counseling at the University of Pennsylvania. I enjoyed many years working with students at the Methacton School District on Philadelphia's "Main Line" before returning to the area near where I grew up. I joined the Rutherford School District in 2013 and I love working with our students here in Rutherford. I enjoy helping each child realize their goals and achieve their dreams. In my role, I collaborate closely with students, staff, and families to ensure each child's success.
In addition to helping students at school, I love to travel, exercise, cook, sing karaoke, and spend time with my husband our two children! I serve as an active member on our multidisciplinary teams. Feel free to call or email me with any questions or concerns you may have:

I believe:
Students have the right to be respected and treated with dignity.
All students can achieve and should be given the opportunity to reach their highest potential.
Students learn best in a safe, supportive and encouraging environment.
Students need to be exposed to opportunities for growth in academic, career and personal/social areas.
Students deserve to be in an academic environment that acknowledges and supports individual learning styles and differences.
The school counseling program serves every student through advocacy, leadership and education.
The school counseling program is an integral link between students, families, school and community that cultivates student responsibility and academic achievement.
The school counselor has a professional responsibility to abide by the Ethical Standards of the American School Counselor Association and to seek ongoing professional development.
Please check the Counseling Section on the school's Rutherford Website for other guidance related information.
