Grading in PE is as follows:
35% - Participation. This includes participating in the day's lesson, dressing out, effort, and behavior. As long as you dress out everyday and give 100% effort you will be fine.
5% - Classwork. This includes any notes or other assignments completed in class.
30% - Assessments. This includes skills tests, homework assignments, written/multiple-choice tests, etc.
30% - Fitness. This includes Mile runs, Push-ups, Curl-ups (sit-ups) and any other fitness assessments. All fitness standards are set by the State of California and specific to YOUR age and sex.
90% - 100% = A
80% - 89% = B
70% - 79% = C
60% - 69% = D
0% - 59% = F
As per school policy, students have 1 week to make-up any missed assignments from the date the assignment was due. Students may also re-take/re-do any assignment that they score a 79% or lower, for up to an 80%. Just meet with me to set up an appointment for the make-up.
Students with medical issues may be excused with a doctor's note or a parent's note. A parent's note is only good for up to 3 days. After 3 days if the ailment persist, students must get a doctor's note.
Students are responsible for all assignments missed while out on medical.
Assignments can be made up once the medical is clear.
We have the privilege of being one of the few (if not the only) schools in the district that does not have a black top. Our concrete courts offer us plenty of space for activities like Basketball, Volleyball, Pickleball, and Floor Hockey to name a few.
We also have a large grass field where sports like Flag Football, Soccer, Lacrosse, Ultimate Frisbee can be enjoyed. The field also has a concrete track around its perimeter for all warm-up and mile runs, as well as track and field races.
The gym is our large indoor facility for special days to participate in Fitness & Conditioning, Dance, and PowerPoint note presentation activities. It is also used on rainy days to accommodate the large number of students with fun games like Crab Soccer, Waterless Water Polo, and Bombardment.
Finally, the PE Classroom is a large room where we show students PowerPoint presentations and videos, as well as administer exams.
