Parent & Guardian Information

Contact Information: If at any point you are concerned about your child's progress or have questions please feel free to contact your student's teacher.

Supplies needed for class: For the school year each student will need to bring three 100-sheet composition notebooks, pencils, and highlighters.  It is highly suggested that each student bring their own set of colored pencils, white glue (not glue sticks), earbuds, and a hand-held pencil sharpener.

Other classroom supply donations are always accepted and appreciated. Ideas include tissues, Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer, sharpened pencils, highlighters, and scotch tape. We can use these donations all throughout the school year.

Tutoring/Office Hours: Tutoring is the time for students to get late work signed, retake quizzes/tests, make up classwork, or get extra help. Students do not need to stay the entire time for tutoring, just the amount of time that they need.  Tutoring/office hours vary by teacher. Please see the home page for times.

Planning Days: Every Wednesday is a planning day, school ends at 12:35.

Grades: Daily classwork and homework in the Science Notebook (SNB) are worth 10 points per page, unless indicated otherwise. Grades will be tallied at the end of the week and recorded as a grouped week grade. Most weeks will be worth 100 points (one classwork and one homework page per day). Any SNB grade under 100% indicates missing pages. For example, if a student earns 70/100 that means there are 3 missing assignments from that week. Please see the late work policy below.

Homework: Homework for the week is written in the student's planner on Mondays.  The homework assignments are intended to reinforce what we are learning in class.  Any classwork that is not completed in class automatically becomes homework and is due the next day.  I check homework for completion at the door.   At the beginning of class, we will go over the answers, I will answer any questions that the class may have. Students are expected to correct their own work. Homework is listed under the Current Week tab of this website.

Late work policy: Homework and Projects are considered late when they are not completed before the student enters the classroom on the day that it is due. Late work will only be accepted if it has a parent's signature on the page. Students must complete the assignment, get a parent's signature, and then come to tutoring to get it signed off by the teacher. Students have one week to make up late work, per school policy.

Absences: Please check the Current Week page of this website for the work we did in class. If possible, please have your student complete work before returning to class.  Make sure to call the attendance office  (951-789-8181 x57141) or send a note with your child explaining the absence.

Plagiarism: Take the time to talk to your child about how important is to not copy, whether it be their friend's work, from the Internet, or a book.  Students should complete their homework at home, so they are not tempted to copy work from classmates. Students who are caught copying will receive a 0 on the assignment and be referred to the office for further discipline.
