Hello 6th grade parents and students!

It has been a month since my last message, so I felt it was past time for an update. If you need to reach old messages, there is a link below to do that. So far, things have been running smoothly for the most part in our virtual math classes. We have a had a couple of technology hiccups along the way, but hopefully they are in the past. The kids have been working hard and starting to participate more in class. The only thing I want to see more consistency with at this time is stepping ahead a little bit further with participation - even if it's writing something in the chat box on our Google Meets. Cameras have been on more which tells me students are getting more comfortable. Something else I would like to see more of is getting assignments done on Google Classroom and logging in to programs like ALEKS and IXL. All of the tools and programs we have been using are useful in gaining some ground that was lost in the spring and helping us to continue to move forward in 6th grade math. I am really enjoying getting to know the kids and vice versa. I was worried about relationship building coming into the year, but so far it has gone well!

I do hold office hours during the school day so that students can work on a more one-to-one basis to gain more understanding of material, but I have not had students coming to them after they sign up. So, please encourage your child to sign up and then show up for office hours. I am here to help and guide them as needed!

Please let me know if you need anything or have any questions!

Sincerely,

Jillian Imoehl
