For Macs it is useful to install Bootcamp. This will enable you to use your Mac with Windows OS or Mac OS
MS Office
You will need a school username and password. Login to your email. You can download Office 365 here, Click on the Install Apps button at the top left of the page.
Ninite is a website that you can use to install and update multiple programs at the same time. Choose the apps/programs you want to add or update. The ticked apps are the ones I use.

PDF Sam will let you cut and join PDF files
Chrome Add Ons
Google Translate,
Grammarly also Flash Player. You might want to add a social bookmarking add on.
Media Players
VLC is a useful program for playng and editing Video Files
Utilities
7-zip lets you open and compress a number of different compressed file types and is free.
