Christopher obtained his BSc degree at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland, majoring in biology. For his MSc degree in biotechnology at ETH, he moved to Basel, Switzerland, completing his thesis with Prof. Adrian Bunzel on the computational design of protein assemblies for photovoltaic enzymes. He then moved to Copenhagen, Denmark as a research assistant in Prof. Ditte Welner's lab at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability, where he worked on engineering a faster fluorinase. Joining the Roelfes group for his PhD in October 2025, Christopher is working on optimizing hybrid enzymatic cascades with machine learning and lab automation.
