Professor of Optimization
Bernoulli Institute for Mathematics, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence
I am currently a Full Professor in the Systems, Control and Optimization Group at the Bernoulli Institute for Mathematics, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence of the University of Groningen, and a member of the Jan C. Willems Center for Systems and Control. I am also a member of the Innovation Committee of the Platform Wiskunde Nederland.
My research area is the numerical solution of optimization and equilibrium problems, along with their applications in image and signal processing. In terms of algorithm design, I consider physical aspects of dynamical systems governed by differential equations and inclusions, and rely on Lyapunov-like techniques in their analysis. Convergence rates and complexity bounds are at the core of my investigation.
After obtaining my PhD, I joined the Mathematics Department of the Federico Santa María Technical University, in the Analysis and Mathematical Modeling Valparaiso Research Group. In 2017, I moved to the University of Chile, as a member of the Mathematical Engineering Department and the Center for Mathematical Modeling (also International Research Laboratory 2807 of the French CNRS).
