Bradworthy Vs Kilkhampton
Moore Cup Final
Moore Cup Final
The Moore Cup was given to Holsworthy AFC by Mr Frank Moore in memory of his brother Harry. They farmed at Rydon Farm, which is now The Rydon Inn. Both brothers were lifelong supporters of the Magpies.
This competition began around 1970 and was very popular with local clubs. However, when the Kingsley League folded, the Moore Cup also came to an end.
The Holsworthy AFC committee have decided to relaunch the competition with eight local teams for the 2025/26 season, with the hope that many more local teams will enter for the 2026/27 season.
The teams entered are Holsworthy Reserves, Bude Reserves, Bradworthy, Hartland, Kilkhampton, Halwill, Shebbear, and North Petherwin.
Good afternoon everyone.
Welcome to the Moore cup Final.
We were delighted to over come North Petherwin in the semi final. The lads put in an almighty shift, and although we had less possession than them, it was clear that we wanted it more than North Petherwin, the work rate was fantastic to see and we rightly got what we deserved running out 4-2 winners.
Our opponents today, Kilk, have had a tremendous season winning the Cornwall senior cup, a great achievement and one we congratulate them for. Again Kilk are currently 2 leagues higher than us in the same leagues are North Peth, so it’s going to be a tough test for our group, but we have shown on our day we can cause an upset.
Whatever the result today I believe this final is a brilliant advert for local football. Two village sides separated by just a few miles and a lake, made up of young local lads shows the strength and quality we have in the area, long may it continue. We are delighted to reignite the flame of another local derby.
Finally I’d like to thank the organisers of the Moore cup for a fantastic first year. The semi finals were a great occasion as I’m sure today will be.
Have a great bank holiday afternoon, I’m sure the game will be a thriller.
Toby, Dan, Gary.
Hello everyone,
On behalf of Kilkhampton Football Club, we would like to express our appreciation and thanks to Barry Parish and Holsworthy Football Club for allowing us to be a part of this great cup. It is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our local derbies and give the spectators the high-quality football they deserve.
We now approach another final with the hopes of bringing back the Moore cup back to Kilkhampton and ending the season on a high Bradworthy have shown they are not a team to underestimate and will be a very good challenge with a few of them who played for kilk in the past now facing us, it will be a battle of both halves but a lot of respect after the game to be shown.
Lastly, I would like to thank our fans. You have truly made our season by coming out to support the lads, even on the coldest and wettest of days. We hope we can put on a show, bring another cup back to the village, and celebrate with you all before the team gets back to work for next season.
We hope you enjoy the match just as much as we do!
Thank you,
Ben Meaker
