Facilitators

This course will be offered by Professor Sioux McKenna, professor of Higher Education Studies in the Centre for Postgraduate Studies. She has extensive experience in research and in facilitating development courses. Her recent publications include the open access book Understanding Higher Education, which was the recipient of the 2023 Book Award at Rhodes University. She was also the recipient of the South African Journal of Sciences 2023 reviewer award and the 2023 Rhodes University Internationalisation Award. She is an editor on several journals, including Higher Education, an international quintile 1 high impact journal. She is a member of the Academy of Sciences Southern Africa. 

The course will be co-facilitated by Professor Stephanie Burton. She has an outstanding research record and has held several influential international research positions. These include being President of the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf), Co-Chair of the ASSAf Organising Committee for the S20 Science Forum aligned with the G20 Summit, immediate past President and Council member of the Royal Society of South Africa (2024), and previous Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research at University of Pretoria. She was one of the authors of the South African review of the Doctorate.
