RTS Parents' Newsletter 24 March 2023
Head Teacher's Message
I hope that parents/carers enjoy the FoRTS Curry & Quiz night tonight - it promises to be an enjoyable evening and I know that FoRTS have worked hard behind the scenes in making this evening happen.
This event was first due to take place in 2020 - and now here we are, 3 years on from the very first lockdown. It still seems incredible to look back on that day when we were all told to stay home and we were instructed to close the school. So much has changed in the school since then - not least having 450 more students - but our strong sense of community and our ethos of the RTS family has remained constant and I am immeasurably proud of this.
I am looking forward to the school production of A Monster Calls next week and hope to see many familiar faces in the audience.
Wishing you a lovely weekend with your families.
Ms K Dooley

RTS Fixtures
The girls' netball team have been out and about over the last week - they have played matches both at home and away. We are fortunate with the great relationships that we have with our other local secondary schools and it is always great fun to meet up and play, even more so when we win!
The Year 8 girls A team won against Teddington 15-6; and the Year 8 girls B Team won against Turing House 15-10. The RTS Teams nominated Eloise and Lianna as players of their respective matches; and the opposition Teams nominated Jayden and Annabel as players of the match for their games. Well done to all girls involved!
The RTS Way
Last week some of our students had the privilege of being invited to local youth centre, Heatham House, to take part in an organised visit from HRH Duke of Edinburgh. The visit was arranged by Sport + Recreation Alliance ahead of their Community Awards Ceremony and demonstrated the fantastic work being done in grassroots sport and recreation in the local community. Many of our students attend after school, weekend, or holiday clubs at Heatham House and are able to experience a variety of different activities.
We are proud of our students who represented the school so well during this visit and are pleased to be able to share a photo of Isla and Declan with HRH Duke of Edinburgh and Heatham House staff and volunteers.

School Uniform Petition
Stevensons are conscious of the cost of school uniform and are always looking at ways to reduce the financial burden on families. A petition has been set up that aims to abolish the VAT on school uniform, in turn helping alleviate some of the pressure on UK households.
