RTS Parents' Newsletter 03 February 2023
Head Teacher's Message
I wanted to say thank you to our RTS families for your support this week whilst we navigated the first of four planned days of industrial action by the National Education Union (NEU). As I have said in my emails, I want to acknowledge the difficult decision that staff have had to make and I hope the government can work with trade union officials to take action to address the ongoing issue of school funding.
We welcomed a large number of Year 9 families on site on Wednesday evening for the GCSE Options Event and it was a real pleasure to see and speak to so many of you. We hope that you found the evening informative and I for one am looking forward to speaking to some of your children next week about their future plans and possible options choices.
I hope that you have a restful weekend.
Ms K Dooley

RTS Art Gallery
This week Ms Williams has shared with us some bright colours for the brighter weather and lighter evenings we are now experiencing:
"This term the Year 9s have been researching the formal elements including line, colour, pattern and shape. The artist we have been looking at is Jasper Johns and his Numbers in Colour paintings. This work created by the Year 9s shows the huge creative potential our Year 9 cohort have and I'm looking forward to discussing Art GCSE as an option with these students next week in class."
These studies were created by: Sophia D, Libby, Jake R, Sohail, Suki, Isabelle W, Luca, Guyunusa, Jake Q; and Isabelle H.

The Year 10 boys rugby team headed out over to the annual Orleans Park Rugby 7s Tournament on Tuesday. After their performance in the group they were entered into the Plate competition, where they finished second. It was a close run game and the team were narrowly beaten and just missed out on winning the Plate. Well done to the team for playing exceptionally well and for good sportsmanship during the tournament.
