RTR MS/HS Counseling

Welcome to the RTR MS/HS School Counseling Website. I'm glad you're here! This website is intended to provide resources for high school students and parents as they journey through the middle and high school years.

COVID -19 considerations:

Hybrid learning is a new adventure for all of us. While many things are changing, my commitment to taking care of our RTR students doesn't. I am available to provide school counseling services to all of our middle and high school students through this time via a variety of means. I am happy to support student development related to academic advising, college and career planning, and personal social development and mental health. I'm available to see students on days they are in the building for instruction or can visit with students virtually on remote learning days.

Students may contact me anytime between 8:00 am and 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday via any of the following methods.

  • Stop into my office for a face to face visit

  • Email: angie.desmith@rtrschools.org

  • Phone: 507-247-5911 ext. 3008

  • Google Chat

  • Google Meets video conference

Confidentiality - Counseling sessions are considered confidential. If you are going to participate in virtual counseling sessions, there are some challenges protecting privacy that you need to know about. At school, when a student comes in, we can shut the door and we know we are alone and it's easy to trust that the conversation will be private. Using the technology noted above, it is not quite so simple. When we use technology to communicate, we can't always easily see who is or isn't in the room or within earshot of a phone or video conversation. I will be working out of an office that does allow me to close the door tightly. Please know that I will be creating the most private situation possible on my end, but I can't control the privacy that you have on your end. Please be mindful of that as you engage in conversations with me.
