Art Club is on Wednesdays, and students work to create their own masterpieces! This club is open to all grades.
Each year we do different two-dimensional and three-dimensional projects.

Board Game Club is for students that enjoy or want to learn more about tabletop games. Students will have the opportunity to play old favorites and learn some new games. Students will be divided into groups and meet on alternating Wednesdays.

Choice Voices is a choral ensemble that is open to all 6th grade students. Throughout the year, we'll perform at the 6th grade chorus concerts as well as within the community. Choice Voices meets on Thursdays after school in the auditorium.

The Community Service Club is a club centered around service projects throughout the school year. Club members will participate in planning school-wide projects, which include: organizing the Turkey Trot in November, the MLK Day of Service in January, and the Hoops for Hope Faculty-Student Basketball game in February. Students who participate in NJHS will have the opportunity to earn community service credits, however, all students are welcome!

Do you like to dance? Do you like to perform? Come join the Springton Lake Middle School Colorguard! This unique performance activity combines dance with spinning a flag and culminates in a four-minute performance piece. The SLMS Colorguard will compete at three shows in the local area this winter. Rehearsals will be held on Wednesdays from 6:00-8:30 pm beginning in December in the gymnasium.

The Debate Club explores important issues such as global warming, the presidential elections, and even who will win the Superbowl through vigorous and passionate discussions among friends. If you are interested in current events, the law, and public speaking, you may enjoy the Debate Club. We meet Wednesdays after school.

This group meets before school on Thursdays from 7:20-7:50 in-room D201to share joys and concerns, discuss spiritual topics, and spend time together (breakfast snacks are also enjoyed).

The Environmental Club works to better the environment in a number of ways. Past projects have included recycling, growing vegetables for donation, planting flowers, etc. This is a great way to make new friends and participate in a school service activity.

During French Club, students enjoy cultural activities through games, video, food tasting, crafts, and holiday celebrations.
No knowledge of French is needed we will meet twice a month on Tuesdays.

Do you play a string instrument and desire to play more challenging music? This is an auditioned orchestra for dedicated, enthusiastic students that meets on Wednesday until 4:00.

Intramurals are offered throughout the school year to all 6th-grade students. The programs run once a week for 4-6 weeks on a selected day, depending on the program. We will meet 2 or 3 times a week. Students will sign up for each program as it is offered. The programs include basketball, running (intro to cross country/track), hockey, games with goals, and weight room.

Jazz Lab is open to all grade levels and meets Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 beginning Wednesday, October 12, 2022. Students get hands-on training in the fundamentals of America’s art form...big band jazz. Open to the following instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto sax, tenor sax, bari sax, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, tuba, electric guitar, bass guitar, piano, drum set, auxiliary percussion. Students continue learning the art of big band jazz. You must make arrangements with Mr. Reno to set-up an audition into jazz band. Prior experience is a must. This ensemble performs at two in-school concerts and two evening concerts per school year as well as local jazz festivals from January to May. There may be an occasional extra performance or two depending on the progress of the ensemble.

The MSU Club looks to promote cultural awareness within the school community through a variety of activities.
Our school newspaper is called the Springton Lake Splash. Newspaper Club is a year-round activity that meets Wednesdays from 3-4 occasional Thursdays. The Splash newspaper will be a virtual document. We are looking for talented students willing to write, draw, and take pictures for our school newspaper!

No Place for Hate is an initiative of the Anti-Defamation League offered free to schools. Springton Lake Middle School has been a designated No Place for Hate school for many years. The goal of NPFH is to create a welcoming community committed to stopping all forms of bias and bullying No Place for Hate helps foster a culture of respect and create a safe, bully-free learning environment for students at all grade levels. We meet on the second Wednesday of the month in the rear of the library. All students in grades 6th-8th grade are invited to attend. We address pertinent issues at our meeting such as:

Bystanders bullying
Multiculturalism
Conflict Resolution

The Springton Lake Middle School Gay Straight Alliance is a student-led organization that is intended to provide a safe and supportive environment for all students, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. We meet one Wednesday a month 3-4 PM. All students and staff members are welcomed.

Reading Olympics is a school-wide team. We read and discuss popular middle school books in preparation for the competition in March with other Delaware County middle schools. Meets every other Wednesday.

The Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) club participates and/or leads various programs and events to promote positive choices in our school and community. As a group we help to design and implement Red Ribbon Week activities, provide support in the organization of MLK Day of Service and assist in other rewarding initiatives in our school and community. We are always looking for new ideas and welcome any students who would like to make a positive impact at SLMS!

The Springton Lake theatre program is looking for talented and motivated students to act, sing, dance, build, paint, and create in this year’s production. Past performances include Annie, Willy Wonka, Bye Bye Birdie, The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, Tarzan and Aladdin, Jr.. The musical is open to sixth, seventh, and eighth graders who are interested in performing, stage crew, set building, and tech crew.

Science Olympiad is an academic, competitive science team that focuses on all areas related to science. Students compete in three competitions: invitational, regional, and state. Students are expected to remain at school to train with their partners a minimum of 2 days per week. Our season is from October to May.

Select choir meets at 7:10 A.M. on Wednesday mornings. Must audition!! Seventh and Eighth Grade Select Choir is an auditioned group of fifty students. They are the ambassadors of the Springton Lake music program, as they frequently perform in the community.

(Spartans Helping Initiate New Experiences)
This club has two programs. The first program is Unified Special Olympics running in the spring. We will get together two days a week to practice our soccer skills. The second program is open to all students interested in serving as a peer mentor to a small group of students one time per cycle on day 7 during academic workshop (CE).

Student Council will be looking for representatives from each grade. The responsibilities are to attend meetings (twice a month Wednesdays after school from 3:10-4:00pm), participate in school activities, volunteer, and offer ideas and suggestions for school events. Regular attendance for meetings is mandatory. You will need to submit an application if you are interested.
Meets: The club meets the first two Wednesdays of the month from 3-4pm.
Video Club captures events throughout the year, edits them, and produces final video products for the school's Youtube Channel and the Spartan Scoop. Club members are provided the opportunity to participate in the What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? video contest sponsored by the Manufacturing Alliance of Chester & Montgomery Counties.

The Yearbook Club takes digital pictures throughout the year at school events and creates the yearbook through an online program. Students are expected to attend all yearbook meetings on Tuesdays after school (3:00-4:00 pm), from November through mid-March. Students can participate in a fall and/or spring sport, but not in a winter sport. Completing the Google form does NOT sign you up for Yearbook Club. All interested participants must complete a Yearbook Application (located in the cafeteria) and return it to Mrs. Snyder in room C010 no later than Friday, October 7, 2022.
