About us

About the Annual Agri Festival Mauritius 2021

For many years Mauritius has produced the bulk of our food through industrial agriculture - a system dominated by farms growing the same crops year after year, using enormous amounts of chemical pesticides and fertilizers that damage soils, water, air, and climate. This system is not built to last, because it degrades our limited resources that it depends on.

In Mauritius today a growing number of innovative farmers and corporate businesses are taking a different path, moving toward a farming system that is more sustainable for the environment, economy, and society. This system has room for farms of all sizes, producing a diverse range of foods, fibres, and fuels adapted to local conditions and regional markets. As Mauritius embarks on this incredible journey we are in need of more knowledge and state of the art science-based practices that will help us maximise productivity and profit while minimising environmental damage.

We are have created a space where Mauritian and international innovative farmers, corporate businesses and any field stakeholders can come and expose the different possible paths for the industry. With innovation, new products, services, etc., we aim to move the farming system towards one that is more sustainable for the environment, economy, and society as a whole.

Throughout the 2 days of the event, we will have conferences hosted by some of the greatest minds in their field, virtual workshops to participate in, networking lounges where you will be able to chat and meet your peers, and exhibitors where you can get to know more about other businesses in the national and international agricultural field.
