Miss Page's Tri-Town

School Counseling Room

Miss Julie Page, M.Ed.

Hello! My name is Julie Page and I am the school counselor at Ames & Weymouth Elementary Schools out in the Tri-Town. I am honored to be a member of these amazing teams.

I began my education career as a 1st and 2nd grade classroom teacher where I worked for twelve years. I have served as a school counselor for ten years.

A lot of people wonder what an elementary school counselor does. Usually school counselors at the elementary levels focus on helping students develop skills to be successful academically, socially, behaviorally and emotionally.

I visit classrooms weekly to continue practicing social emotional learning skills (SEL), such as talking about having a growth or fixed mindset, practicing empathy, learning how to be a good friend and talking about different emotions.

I also work with many of the 4th and 5th grade students on our Civil Rights Team. The Civil Rights Team is a school-based extracurricular activity that meets once per week and works on projects that engage our school community in thinking about issues related to: race/skin color, national origin and ancestry, religion, disabilities, gender and all kinds of families.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child's success at school, please feel free to contact me Monday or Friday at Weymouth (#342-5300) or Tuesday, Wendesday and Thursday at Ames (#342-5100). You can also reach me by email at jpage@rsu71.org.
