I received my degree in Early Childhood / Elementary Education in 1990 from Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Since then I have been a substitute and long-term substitute, and a teacher with children aging from pre-school through grade five. I began working in Special Education in 2016.
I have worked for this district since 1997, working in classrooms as a teaching partner primarily in grades K-5. I am a lifelong learner, I am very curious and love to read. I got into education to help students learn to love learning as well. My goal is to help children become independent thinkers using a variety of different strategies. I have done a number of years in the behavioral program helping children work on problem solving, making them feel heard and seen - which is one of the biggest reasons why I do what I do.

I began working in the field of education two years ago when I became a substitute teacher at the Edna Drinkwater school in Northport. Working as a substitute and Ed Tech led me to discovering a passion for teaching and connecting with students. I myself am a student at the University of Maine, where I originally studied psychology, but have since shifted my focus to Elementary Education, concentrating on the field of Special Education. With a student-first approach in mind, I am looking forward to the opportunity to get students excited about their learning as I step into a dedicated Ed Tech position at the Ames Elementary school.
