Well Done!

September 2018

In the first 11 days of school, Mr. Hamlin's students raised $445 to send to Indonesia for earthquake relief. It's amazing the amount of coins that were hiding under couch cushions and floor mats!

October 2018

Students in Mr. Hamlin's Block 4 class got to chat with students in Accra, Ghana in west Africa. Today was just introductions. In the future, we'll chat about our water consumption habits and ways that we can conserve water on both sides of the Atlantic.

November 2018

Congratulations to the 8th grade (a.k.a. District 3) for their contributions to the

2018 Hunger Games.

Overall, THMS students brought in 1,006 items for our food pantry. Of that total, 8th graders pitched in 530 items!!

Banana Bread!

Mrs. Wyman and Mrs. Warren taught students how to make banana bread...just in time for Thanksgiving!

Are insects the food of the future?

We were fortunate to have Noah Libby from Entosense in Lewiston here to discuss edible insects.

Insects use only a fraction of the water that beef does and they emit much less methane gas.

Noah brought samples of crickets, grasshoppers, ants, and scorpions.

WBFY - 100.9 FM

7 students visited our local radio station after school on Friday, Nov. 30th.

DJs Vic and Carrie showed us how the station operates and let us spin a few of our own favorite songs.

Stay tuned for more youth radio on Friday afternoons.

The station also streams live at: https://belfastcommunityradio.org/

January 2019

Letters from students in Ukraine

27 of our 8th grade students received letters and small gifts from students in Cherkasy, Ukraine. We've been corresponding online with them since October thanks to Sonia Scherr, a Peace Corps volunteer from Vermont. We'll be sending letters and small items back at the end of January. Who knows, maybe some of these contacts will turn into long term pen pals.
