Here are some resources for downloading and using CAD software. CAD or Computer Aided Design, is a general term for programs that help us design things. Modeling, simulation, and fabrication can all be done with the help of CAD. Fusion 360 and SketchUp are both 3D molding software. SketchUp is much easier to start with as you get used to CAD. Fusion 360 is a more advanced program that you can do more with, if you want somthing in bewtween try Onshape, it has many of the features of Fusion 360 while being easier to use. In our Stem Lab at Freeport High School, we are lucky to have 6 3D printers: four Prusa Mk4s, one Bambu Lab X1-Carbon, and one Prusa XL. The printers need different software to turn 3D models into printable formats so check out the link below for more information. We are also very fortunate to have a laser cutter, a GlowForge Pro, that you can use to cut out 2D designs.
